Alimuddin: Ministry yet to decide on Science and Mathematics issue

PUTRAJAYA: There have been differing views on whether the teaching of Science and Mathematics in English should be retained.
Education director-general Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom said these views were based on a series of roundtable discussions the ministry had held to discuss the policy since last month.
“The three main views are that some groups want the policy to be retained while others don’t.
“Another view is that the policy be retained but that it be introduced either in the second half of primary school or only implemented in secondary school,” he told reporters at the end of the second roundtable discussion yesterday.
The policy of teaching Science and Mathematics in English was implemented in phases, starting with Year One, Form One and Lower Six students in 2003.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein had earlier announced that a decision on whether Science and Mathematics would continue to be taught in English would be made after the Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) results were released at the end of the year.
He said the decision would not be based on the UPSR results but that the ministry was only announcing the decision after the results were out as it needed time to go through more roundtable discussions to seek the views of different parties.
Alimuddin said the second roundtable discussion was attended by community leaders, Parent-Teacher Associations, Non-Governmental Organisations, representatives from teacher unions, corporate and professional bodies, interested individuals as well as ministry officials.
Two more roundtable discussions would be held in October, he said, adding that these were with teachers and students, and another with politicians.
“The ministry will refine the recommendations from the discussions.
“This will then be handed over to the minister with other reports and evaluations so that a decision can be made on the policy,” Alimuddin said.

'Dinosaur dance floor' unearthed in Arizona

i read that more than 1,000 dinosaur footprints along with tail-drag marks have been discovered along the Arizona-Utah border. The incredibly rare concentration of beastly tracks likely belonged to at least four different species of dinosaurs, ranging from youngsters to adults.
The tracks range in length from 1 to 20 inches (2.5 to 51 centimeters).
it is really amazing finding ,as we all know it is not that easy to find dinosours fossils.with this discover we can know how the dianosaur look like.

real meaning of peace

There once was a king who offered a prize to the artistwho would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried. The king looked at all the pictures. But there were only two he really liked, and he had to choose between them.

One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect mirror for peaceful towering mountains all around it. Overhead was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds. All who saw this picture thought that it was a perfect picture of peace.

The other picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged and bare. Above was an angry sky, from which rain fell and in which lightning played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. This did not look peaceful at all.

But when the king looked closely, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird had built her nest. There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest - in perfect peace.

Which picture do you think won the prize? The king chose the second picture. Do you know why?
"Because," explained the king, "peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. Peace means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart. That is the real meaning of peace."

so my friends always in relax condition even you have a major problem:)
find you own peace and enjoy our life.

Thai court to consider seizing Thaksin assets

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's Supreme Court agreed on Thursday to consider seizing former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's 76 billion baht ($2.2 billion) in assets frozen in Thai banks after he was ousted in a 2006 coup.
Prosecutors argued Thaksin had abused his powers during five years in office to enrich his associates and businesses owned by his family, a charge he has denied.

The first court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 25.
The asset seizure case began in July 2007 when a panel of graftbusters appointed by the coup makers ordered Thai banks to freeze Thaksin's domestic accounts.
Thaksin and his wife, Potjaman, fled to England in August this year, saying they could not get a fair trial in Thailand.
In a separate case, Thailand's top anti-graft agency dismissed a petition on Thursday against Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat that could have disqualified him as premier.
Somchai, Thaksin's brother-in-law and the target of a street campaign seeking to unseat him, was accused of dereliction of duty in 2000 when he was a top justice ministry official, an offence that could have forced him to step down.
The National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) said Somchai was not guilty of a criminal offence, but should have faced some disciplinary action.
Thailand has been riven by political conflict for the three years since the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) started its street campaign against Thaksin and his allies, accusing them of corruption, cronyism and threatening the monarchy.
The dispute between the Thaksin camp and the military and royalist elite who despise him has seen a coup, elections and more street protests, but appears to be no nearer a conclusion.

pencil story

The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box. "There are 5 things you need to know," he told the pencil, "Before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be."
"One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in someone's hand."
"Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you'll need it to become a better pencil."
"Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make."
"Four: The most important part of you will always be what's inside."
"And Five: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No matter what the condition, you must continue to write."
The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with purpose in its heart.

Now replacing the place of the pencil with you. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best person you can be.
One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God's hand. And allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess.
Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems in life, but you'll need it to become a stronger person.
Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.
Four: The most important part of you will always be what's on the inside.
And Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No matter what the situation, you must continue to do your duties.
Allow this parable on the pencil to encourage you to know that you are a special person and only you can fulfill the purpose to which you were born to accomplish.Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot make a change:)

ENGLISH??

Have you ever wondered why foreigners have trouble with English Language?

Let’s face it
English is a stupid language.
There is no egg in the eggplant
No ham in the hamburger
And neither pine nor apple in the pineapple.
English muffins were not invented in England
French fried were not invented in France.

We sometimes take English for granted
But if we examine its paradoxes we find that
Quicksand takes you down slowly
Boxing rings are square
And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

If writes write, how come fingers don’t fing.
If the plural of tooth is teeth
Shouldn’t the plural of phone booth be phone beeth
If the teacher taught,
Why didn’t the preacher praught

If a vegetarian eats vegetables
What the heck does a humanitarian eat!?
Why did people recite at a play
Yet play at a recital?
Park on driveways and
Drive on parkways

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy
Of a language where a house can burn up as
It burns down
And in whch you fill in a form
By filling it out
And a bell is only heard once it goes!

English was invented by people, not computers
And it reflectd the creativity of the human race
(which of course isn’t a race at all)

That is why
When the stars are out they are visible
But when the lights are out they are invisible
And why it is that when I wind up my watch
It startd
But when I wind up this observation,
It ends.

Malaysia to resort to nuclear energy by 2023: minister

Malaysia will turn to nuclear energy to generate electricity by 2023 as supplies of fossil fuel eventually run out, a minister said according to Saturday news reports.
Energy, Water and Communications Minister Shaziman Mansor said the use of nuclear energy was also an alternative to counter high global oil prices, the Star newspaper reported.
"I will be briefing the cabinet in a fortnight. We have no choice but to start the ball rolling," he was quoted as saying.
"You cannot say you want to use nuclear power in the next few months, and expect everything to be in place," the minister said.
Malaysia in June raised electricity tariffs after coal prices surged but Shaziman said the price of coal was now much higher than the government's estimate of about 75 dollars per tonne.
"The increase in coal prices had been exceptional and we need to act now," Shaziman said.
State utility Tenaga has said it could construct the country's first 1,000 MW nuclear power plant at a cost of 3.1 billion dollars after being asked by the government to look at the option amid surging global oil prices and the country's limited supply of oil and natural gas.
Currently, half of Malaysia's power plants run on gas. Other sources include coal and hydropower.
The government last year said it would build Southeast Asia's first nuclear monitoring laboratory to allow scientists to check the safety of atomic energy programmes in the region.

Love and Time

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the fillings lived: happiness, sadness, knowledge, and all of the others, including love. One day it was announced to the fillings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Excepts for love.
Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment. When the island had almost sunk, love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by love in a grand boat. Love said, “richness, can you take me with you?” richness answered, “no , I can’t. there is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you.”
Love decided to ask vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. “vanity, please help me!” ”I can’t help you, love. You are all wet and might damage my boat,” vanity answered.
Sadness was closed by so love asked, “sadness, let me go with you.””oh…love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!”
Happiness passed by love, too, but she was so happy that she did not hear when love called her.
Suddenly, there was a voice, “come, love, I will take you.” It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, love even forgot to ask elder where there were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder, love asked knowledge, another elder, “who helped me?” “it was time,” knowledge answered. “time?” asked love. “but why did time help me?” knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, “because only time is capable of understanding how valuable love is.”

SOLEDAD

If only you could see the tears in the world you left behind
If only you could heal my heart just one more time
Even when I close my eyes
There's an image of your face
And once again I come I'll relise
You're a loss I can't replace

It's a keeping for the lonely
Since the day that you were gone
Why did you leave me

In my heart you were the only
And your memory live on
Why did you leave me

Walking down the streets of nothingville
Where our love was young and free Can't believe just what an empty place
It has come to be I would give my life away
If it could only be the same
Cause I can't still the voice inside of me
That is calling out your name

Time will never change the things you tols me
After all we're meant to be love will bring us back to you and me
If only you could see..soledad

Mother

For as long as I can remember…
You were always by my side,
To give support, confidence and help

For as long as I can remember…
You were always the person I looked up to,
So strong, so sensitive, so pretty.

For as long I can remember…
You always provided stability within our family,
Full of laughter, full of tears, full of love.

For as long I can remember…
And still today,
You are everything a Mother should be.

Whatever I have become is because of you ……and I thank you forever for our relationship

Cut diesel price, says Ong

PETALING JAYA: The Housing and Local Government Ministry has suggested that the price of diesel be reduced in the 2009 Budget to help the construction industry.
“We hope the Government can reduce the diesel price because diesel vehicles are commonly used in this industry, too,” said minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan.
He said that previously, diesel was heavily subsidised and road tax was higher for diesel vehicles.
“But since the subsidy for diesel vehicles have gone down a lot, the road tax for such vehicles should also be reduced to a level at par with petrol vehicles, if not lower,” he told a press conference after launching the 19th National Real Estate Convention 2008 here yesterday.
He also suggested that state governments allow developers to be flexible in carrying out the bumiputra quota requirement for their projects.
He said developers should enjoy the flexibility of either increasing or reducing the quota based on the population of the areas in which their projects are being built.
“If there is less demand from the bumiputras because of the low number of the population in a certain area, developers should be allowed to reduce the quota to less than 30% as required currently.
“For those who develop projects in areas where there is more demand from the bumiputra population, they should be able to increase the percentage of the quota,” he said.

lee chong wei

penang government want to give `DATUK' titled to lee chong wei
but this appreciation been disagree because he is too young.
I'm not supporting anyone but i thing he deserve to get that appreciation
he had workhard to achieve success in Olympic
not all people or can i say our athletes can achieve top five in their game.
people do not agree Nicol and lee Chong Wei get title `DATUK' because they are too young..
why actually a person get `DATUK'?

if people not agree `DATUK' given to them
why not we change the title to`WIRA' or other that is specific for athletes
and for the price (one million) for gold it quit expensive
but it also can increase our athletes spirit to win their games.
this is all my opinion
and i hope who ever read this article can thing positive.

Support for Avril concert

PETALING JAYA: Radio stations, the Perak Mentri Besar and pop rocker Amy Search have joined in lashing out at PAS Youth for calling for a ban on Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne’s concert on Aug 29.
Engku Emran Engku Zainal Abidin, the vice-president of the association of local radio stations Commercial Radio Malaysia (CRM), said PAS Youth should see the concert as an opportunity to reach out to youths and work with the Government.
“PAS Youth is apparently all about sending out positive messages and I understand their (PAS) role and concerns but they should see this as a path to reach out to the youths,” he told The Star.
“Banning the concert will not make things better or address the root of social ills.
“The young people will not listen to us but to their idol, someone who is world famous.
“People like Avril have a better chance to address social issues especially since she is of similar age to the crowd,” he said.
Amy Search said people kept looking at the negative side of rock bands when “we must remember there are positive sides to it too”.
“Her (Avril) music and video clips do not suggest negativity,” he said, adding that Avril came across as an easygoing girl.
“All religions preach good values. It is entirely up to us to take the good and leave the bad. Feelings and judgments are within our own control,” he added.
“You cannot expect us to wear a tie and suit to perform,” he said, adding that members of rock bands also have families and children.
On Saturday, Federal Territory PAS Youth chief Kamaruzaman Mohamed called for Avril’s concert to be banned on the grounds that “rock and punk are not suitable for the young generation, especially so during Merdeka month.”
In Ipoh, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said he had no qualms about Avril performing so long as she observed the acceptable norms in terms of dressing and type of songs.
“I have no objection so long as she observes the Eastern culture,” he said after the weekly exco meeting.
On whether the protest by PAS Youth was an attempt to push for the PAS agenda, Nizar said: “If they have grounds that the artistes are against the acceptable Eastern norm, they can voice it out,” he said.
Engku Emran added that PAS Youth should see more of Avril’s talent and discipline that got her to where she is now.
“It boils down to the saying 'do not judge a book by its cover.'
“Even foreign organisations acknowledge her as a good ambassador for various charitable causes,” he said, referring to Amnesty International, the US Campaign for Burma, the Make A Wish Foundation, YouthAIDS and War Child.

I've learned that,
we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.
no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must
forgive them for that.
true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. The same goes for true love.
you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be!
I've learned that ,
we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
either you control your attitude or it controls you.
money is a lousy way of keeping score.
my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I've learned that ,
sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.
sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

I've learned that ,
maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them, and less to do with how many years you have lived.
it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself!
thank you...

blue colour?

Black is the hot color for 2008, and will probably hold strongly through much of 2009, as well. Purple is the trendy color of the year, giving an updated look to practically all fashion it’s associated with. But the big independent color - the one the Pantone Color Institute and its top level designer consultants rate as Number One for the year 2008 and for Spring 2009 — is BLUE.
This magnificent, aristocratic color never seems to leave the top color charts completely, no matter what color family is IN. Perhaps that’s because everyone loves blue. Survey after survey, year-in, year-out, show that the great majority of Americans list their favorite color as blue. It is popular. It is often mesmerizing. And, this year, it is more important than ever. On top of which, it is even uptrending!

Blue represents trustworthiness and extreme reliability, such as someone committed to another person, or idea, or situation. With that in mind, think of blue jewelry gifts for weddings and anniversaries, or associate it with doctors, social workers, humane society members, and even the kind of person who volunteers to help build homes for Habitat.
Likewise, blue is also considered the collective color of the spirit, generating a sense of oneness and interconnectedness, something we could all use more of in our present-day world. Naturally growing out of that is blue’s supposed ability to bring rest and relaxation as a powerful calming color. Unlike other colors and symbols in our society, blue is not gender-restricted in any way. It is equally popular with men and women.

Written with a pen
Sealed with a kiss
If you are my friend,
Please answer this:
Are we friends or are we not?
You told me once, but I forgot.
So tell me now and tell me true,
So I can say, I am here for you.
Of all the friends I've ever met,
You're the one I won't forget.
And if I die before you do,
I'll go to Heaven
And wait for you.

DON’T
Don’t care so much for me,
I may get used to it.
Don’t come so near to me,
I may not be able to detach from it.
Don’t put so much faith in me,
I may not be able to handle it.
Don’t touch me the way u do,
I may not be able to get over it.
Don’t become a part of my life,
Coz without u, I won’t be able to live it.
Don’t make me fall for u,
I may not be able to fall out of it.
Don’t come into my life,
If u have to leave one day.
Don’t give me the hope,
That it’s forever u r gonna stay.
Coz love is an emotion
I won’t be able to hide,
When love isn’t reciprocated with love,
It hurts deep down inside.
Don’t start something
That I won’t be able to end.
Don’t make me believe
That u can be more than a friend.
Coz at the end of it all,
I don’t wanna hear u say,
That,” I’m sorry,”
“ but I never felt the same way!”

two frogs

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them
fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs saw how deep the pit
was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The
two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit
with all their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop,
that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took
heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down
and died.

The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again,
the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He
jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the
other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to
them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the
entire time.

This story teaches two lessons:

1. There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging
word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it
through the day.

2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes
to kill them.

Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your
path. The power of words... it is sometimes hard to understand
that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak
words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in
difficult times. Special is the individual who will take the time
to encourage another.

the four wives

There was a rich merchant who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best.

He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He's very proud of her and always wanted to show off her to his friends. However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might run away with some other men.

He too, loved his 2nd wife. She is a very considerate person, always patient and in fact is the merchant's confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems, he always turned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times.

Now, the merchant's 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her.

One day, the merchant fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, "Now I have 4 wives with me. But when I die, I'll be alone. How lonely I'll be!"

Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I loved you most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No way!" replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word.

The answer cut like a sharp knife right into the merchant's heart. The sad merchant then asked the 3rd wife, "I have loved you so much for all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No!" replied the 3rd wife. "Life is so good over here! I'm going to remarry when you die!" The merchant's heart sank and turned cold.

He then asked the 2nd wife, "I always turned to you for help and you've always helped me out. Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!" replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only send you to your grave." The answer came like a bolt of thunder and the merchant was devastated.

Then a voice called out : "I'll leave with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go." The merchant looked up and there was his first wife. She was so skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition. Greatly grieved, the merchant said, "I should have taken much better care of you while I could have !"

Actually, we all have 4 wives in our lives

a. The 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it'll leave us when we die.

b. Our 3rd wife ? Our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go to others.

c. The 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they had been there for us when we're alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.

d. The 1st wife is in fact our soul, often neglected in our pursuit of material, wealth and sensual pleasure.

Guess what? It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go. Perhaps it's a good idea to cultivate and strengthen it now rather than to wait until we're on our deathbed to lament
